The Living Neighborhood History Workshop Series
Created and facilitated by Rachel Seymour in partnership with Carnegie-Stout Public Library.
The Living Neighborhood History workshop series invited community members to explore how memories, everyday lived experiences, and connections to place shape different neighborhood histories. Over four weeks, participants reflected on the places, people, and experiences that have shaped their lives and communities. Through creative activities—including journaling, embodied art, spatial-temporal mapping, and collaborative timeline-building—they explored personal memories and shared histories, culminating in a collective showcase of their work.
The Gallery Showcase took place on October 11, 2026, at Carnegie-Stout Public Library, where participants shared their artwork and celebrated the collective histories created throughout the workshops. The showcase highlighted the value of preserving local knowledge and recognizing community members as contributors to Dubuque’s living history.
The showcase was featured in The Telegraph Herald.
